چکیده

We present new measurements on a Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (CDMS) detector with electron, neutron, and gamma sources. The measurements have been performed to investigate the dead layer of one of the CDMS Z-dependent Ionization Phonon germanium detectors. The dead layer has been studied at both charge electrodes and at different electric field intensities. We also present a method to remove the dependence of athermal phonon measurements on event position. r 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

From CDMS to SuperCDMS

The Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (CDMS) and SuperCDMS experiments seek hypothetical weakly-interacting, massive particles (WIMPs) that could account for the majority of matter in the Universe, by means of cryogenic germanium detectors. We provide an update on the status of the SuperCDMS experiment, and discuss the joint CDMS-EDELWEISS analysis.

تعیین لایه مرده‎ و بازده قله تمام - انرژی آشکارساز HPGe بااستفاده از کد MCNP و نتایج تجربی

One important factor in using an High Purity Germanium (HPGe) detector is its efficiency that highly depends on the geometry and absorption factors, so that when the configuration of source-detector geometry is changed, the detector efficiency must be re-measured. The best way of determining the efficiency of a detector is measuring the efficiency of standard sources. But considering the fact t...

A Testing Strategy for the Mass Production of CDMS II Detectors

The Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (CDMS) employs detectors which are capable of simultaneously measuring the ionization and phonon energies deposited by a particle collision. These detectors are 1-cm-thick, 7-cm-diameter crystals of either germanium or silicon with a thin film of aluminum and tungsten patterned on the surface. This presentation discusses the testing regimen that a typical CDMS d...

Recent results from the CDMS-II experiment

The Cryogenic Dark Matter Search experiment (CDMS) employs low-temperature Ge and Si detectors to detect WIMPs via their elastic scattering interaction with the target nuclei. The current analysis of 397.8 kg-days Ge exposure resulted in zero observed candidate events, setting an upper limit on the spin-independent WIMP-nucleon cross-section of 6.6× 10 cm (4.6× 10 cm, when previous CDMS Soudan ...

Status and Results from the Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (CDMS)

The Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (CDMS) experiment utilizes novel cryogenic particle detectors for a direct search of dark matter particles in the form of WIMPs in our galaxy. The detectors are able to discriminate between nuclear and electron recoils through the simultaneous measurement of ionization and phonons. We report on the latest results from several kg-day exposure of Ge and Si detecto...
